Gum Disease Treatment

Protect the Foundation of Your Smile

What Is Gum Disease Treatment?

Healthy gums are the foundation your teeth depend on. Gum disease (periodontitis) is one of the most common — and most preventable — dental conditions. Left untreated, it leads to tooth loss and has been linked to serious health conditions including heart disease and diabetes. Our periodontal care stops gum disease in its tracks.

  • Stop gum disease before it causes tooth loss
  • Reduce inflammation, bleeding, and sensitivity
  • Fresher breath and healthier tissue
  • Protect overall systemic health
  • Preserve bone supporting your teeth
  • Non-surgical options for most cases

What We Offer

Our Gum Disease Treatment Services

Periodontal Assessment

A thorough measurement of gum pockets, bone levels, and tissue health to determine the stage of gum disease and the right treatment approach.

Scaling & Root Planing

Deep cleaning below the gumline to remove tartar and bacteria from root surfaces and smooth the roots so gums can reattach — the most effective non-surgical gum disease treatment.

Halitosis (Bad Breath) Treatment

Identifying and treating the underlying bacterial causes of persistent bad breath — not just masking the symptom.

Periodontal Maintenance

More frequent cleanings (typically every 3–4 months) to control gum disease and prevent progression once treated.

What to Expect

The Process

Step 1

Gum Health Assessment

We measure pocket depths at every tooth and take x-rays to assess bone levels — giving us a complete picture of your gum health.

Step 2

Treatment Planning

Dr. Basi explains your diagnosis and recommends the appropriate level of treatment based on severity.

2
Step 3

Scaling & Root Planing

Deep cleaning is performed in sections with local anesthesia for comfort. Most patients need 2–4 appointments.

3
Step 4

Reassessment

4–6 weeks after deep cleaning, we reassess to measure improvement and determine if further treatment is needed.

4
Step 5

Maintenance Program

Regular periodontal maintenance appointments keep gum disease controlled and protect your long-term results.

Common Questions

FAQs About Gum Disease Treatment

Q.What are the warning signs of gum disease?

Bleeding when brushing, red or swollen gums, persistent bad breath, gum recession, and loose teeth are all warning signs. Many cases have no pain — which is why regular checkups matter.

Q.Is gum disease treatment painful?

Scaling and root planing is done under local anesthesia, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Some tenderness after is normal and usually resolves within a few days.

Q.Can gum disease be cured?

Gingivitis (early stage) can be fully reversed. Advanced periodontitis can be managed and halted but not fully reversed — which is why early treatment is so important.

Q.Does gum disease affect my overall health?

Yes. Research strongly links gum disease to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes complications, and pregnancy issues. Healthy gums contribute to overall wellbeing.
